Speak with a Geek

Ronstadt & Associates was instrumental in establishing Speak with a Geek, a one-stop service for businesses and consumers with computer problems, as one of the nation's leading providers of third-party tech support.

Speak with a Geek first called upon Ronstadt & Associates' media capabilities in the fall of 2002 for the launch of its consumer support services aimed at drawing potential users to its Web site for a free introductory trial. In order to present Speak with a Geek to the mass consumer audience, we initiated a media campaign targeted toward personal technology reporters at daily newspapers in the top 25 markets and wire services nationwide. We leveraged the holiday season to position the service as a way to help consumers through the difficult process of setting up computers and gadgets received as gifts. Before the campaign's end, Ronstadt & Associates obtained coverage for Speak with a Geek in more than 25 top daily newspapers reaching over 7 million readers.

In the summer of 2003, the San Diego-based company once again enlisted Ronstadt & Associates' media expertise to launch its corporate technical support service program. We targeted IT/computer and business magazines, national publications with tech-related columns and local newspapers, positioning Speak with a Geek as a money-saving alternative to contracting consultants or hiring IT staff. Additionally, Ronstadt & Associates offered editors free use of the service for their own technical problems. Over the course of the campaign, Ronstadt & Associates secured more than 20 media placements in publications nationwide, delivering Speak with a Geek's message to more than 10 million readers.
